With our move to Avalon House now complete we continue to operate and manufacture from the two main sites: electronics being based in Wiveliscombe, Somerset and HQ plus manufacturing at Somerton, also in Somerset, south-west UK.
Design
Our experienced design engineering staff employ the latest computer-aided design (CAD) techniques to manage the many complex issues which arise during the system design and integration phases of each new project.
Production
Electronics sub-assemblies are manufactured on-site by our own personnel, trained in the specialist skills neccessary to produce highly reliable instrumentation.
Training
We have resources to train our clients either at their location or at Avalon House in Somerton, where we can hold interactive training sessions with them and/or their staff. This allows customers to ensure that they and their field engineers can be familiar with Avalon tool systems and so maximise survey quality and technical trouble shooting. We have resources which allow us to explore the practical and interpretive aspects of shooting a VSP using Avalon downhole and surface equipment, and acquisition/processing software, in addition to instruction on appropriate maintenance.
Inspection
Electronic assemblies are carefully inspected for any mechanical and soldering defects using a Cobra(TM) stereoscopic microscope.
Environment
The 'anti-static' assembly area at the new electronics site contributes to high quality production and clean working environment.
Mechanical Engineering
Manufacturing of mechanical components takes place in our Somerton HQ factory. We are now manufacturing over 80% of our output in-house and we sub-contract only specialist services such as electron beam welding and heat treatments. We have invested heavily in the latest CNC machining facilities and are able to cope with even the most complex components used in our downhole tools. With much reduced dependency on sub-contractors, we have the added advantage of quality testing and inspection at source, to our own rigorous and high standards.
Test
Full temperature and pressure testing is performed in house where we have installed our own dedicated high temperature & pressure rig, as well as a separate stand-alone high pressure vessel. We can test complete tools to 500°F and 25,000 psi and, with our sophisticated electronic test equipment, we can fully characterise the performance of our instrumentation.
We are now able to offer this service on a commercial basis to third parties. Please contact us for prices and further details.
